Joaquín Hortal is a biogeographer and community ecologist researching the spatial and temporal dynamics of biodiversity.

Miguel Matias is a community ecologist whose current project uses aquatic mesocosms to research the ecological effects of climate change.

Pedro Aragón is an evolutionary ecologist researching effects of global change on groups including reptiles and amphibians.

Jorge Lobo is a biogeographer with expertise in models and patterns of biodiversity, and in beetle biodiversity.

Miguel B. Araújo's group researches the large-scale effects of environmental change on biodiversity.

ILYA MACLEAN

Ilya is a Senior Lecturer in Natural Environment at the University of Exeter's Environment & Sustainability Institute. We have been collaborating since 2009 on microclimate and its role as a buffer against extinction risk from climate change.

JON BENNIE

Jon is a Lecturer in Physical Geography at the University of Exeter's Cornwall Campus. We have been collaborating since 2009 on areas including microclimate and population dynamics at the range margins of butterflies.

JAMES STEWART

James is conducting a PhD on climate change, phenology and population dynamics in an insect / plant interaction, and the consequences for local adaptation and range expansion. James is co-supervised by Jon Bridle (University of Bristol) and Ilya Maclean.

RACHEL JONES

Rachel's PhD concerns the effects of habitat and climate change on the conservation of the Lulworth Skipper butterfly. Rachel is co-supervised by Ilya Maclean, and by Nigel Bourn and Tom Brereton of the UK conservation organisation Butterfly Conservation.

RICHARD FOX

Richard is the Associate Director for Recording and Research at Butterfly Conservation, and is preparing a PhD by Publication at Exeter on Citizen Science and Biodiversity Change in the British Lepidoptera.
